A man is facing 16 charges stemming from burglaries in the Portland area between 2019 and 2021.
According to the Multnomah County DA’s office, 44-year-old Jerod Gunter’s alleged string of burglaries began in the fall of 2019 when he and others stole roughly $25,000 from a Southeast Portland bar.
In 2020, Gunter was involved in additional burglaries, ranging from small independent businesses such as cannabis dispensaries to Trader Joes, Carl’s Junior, and Elmers, the DA’s office said.
According to the DA’s office, Gunter and his associates spray-painted security cameras, stole safes, unmounted and stole ATMs from inside of businesses, and in one instance sawed through an outside wall to get into a business to burglarize it.
Gunter and his associates allegedly stole thousands of dollars over the course of two years and spent the money on drugs and gambling, the DA’s office said.
The Court set Gunter’s bail to $50,000.

- Six counts of burglary in the second degree
- One count of theft in the second degree
- Two counts of criminal mischief in the second degree
- One count of burglary in the first degree
- Four counts of theft in the first degree
- One count of criminal mischief in the first degree
