Sunshine returns after snow flurries reported in Charleston, Berkeley counties

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - After a brief period of snow flurries in portions of Charleston and Berkeley counties the sunshine has returned.

Flurries were reported in the Moncks Corner, Nexton, Goose Creek, and Mount Pleasant areas early Saturday morning.

Live 5 Chief Meteorologist Bill Walsh said there was even a light dusting in St. Stephen.

After the last of the flurries rolled out, sunshine returned to the area, but we do expect a cold and breezy Saturday. Highs will only reach the low 40s.

Meteorologist Chris Holtzman said more sunshine would continue through the afternoon, but it would remain cold and windy.

Very cold temperatures are then expected Saturday night with a hard freeze likely.

Holtzman said to use caution if going out Sunday morning.

“Lows will fall into the low 20s inland with upper 20s at the beaches,” said Live 5 Meteorologist Stephanie Sine. “Don’t forget to protect the pets, plants and pipes Saturday night! We’ll still be chilly on Sunday with highs near 50 degrees. Warmer weather moves in next week with highs in the 60s by Monday and Tuesday.”
