Eugene “Gene” Engler, age 83, of Windom, passed away on January 26th at the Pineview Assisted Living in Windom, MN.

Eugene Elmo Engler was born on February 26, 1938, to Elder and Mildred (Kuehl) Engler, at the Slayton Hospital. During his childhood, Gene’s family lived in Rosehill Township, Cottonwood County, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Rosehill Lutheran Church. He attended District 56 Country School and Westbrook High School, graduating with the class of 1956.

Gene married Joan Sell on September 2, 1962, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. Gene & Joan moved to Windom in 1962. He worked as an outside truck driver at the Toro Company in Windom for 40 years. He was the F.O.E. District President and Local Trustee. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, boating and water skiing with the family on weekends.

Gene is survived by his brother, Arlo (Marlene) Engler of Windom, MN; his nieces and nephews; and many friends and Evie King.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Joan; an infant son, Bruce Eugene; and his parents, Elder & Mildred Engler.

A Celebration of Life Service for Eugene “Gene” Engler, age 83 of Windom, will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 5th, at the LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom with Pastor Adam Roberts officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Windom.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 4th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom.

Eugene “Gene” Engler peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 26th at Pineview Assisted Living in Windom.

Arrangements are under the care of the LaCanne Family Funeral Service in Windom.
