CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The high-flying athletes from the Netflix docuseries “Cheer” are hitting the road this summer. The nationwide tour includes a stop at Cleveland’s Wolstein Center on Saturday, July 2.
“I’m so excited to cheer again and to have the feeling of performing and going on tour,” says Morgan Simianer, one of the show’s breakout stars. “We are all coming together without the competitions and pressure — It’s going to be so fun! I want all of the cheerleaders to see this and think, that can be me one day.”
The tour will feature stars from 14-time national champion Navarro College, led by its legendary coach Monica Aldama, and Trinity Valley Community College, the rival cheerleading squad introduced in season two. Joining Simianer on the mat will be Gabi Butler, Maddy Brum, Angel Rice, Dee Joseph, James Thomas, Jeron Hazelwood, Gillian Rupert, Cassadee Dunlap and more.
In a press release, promoters promise an “electrifying exhibition of never-before-seen stunts and stage performances that are sure to have fans on the edge of their seats.” The program will have the added benefit of not being restricted by pesky nuisances like rules, scorecards, judges or time limits.
Tickets for “Cheer Live” go on sale Friday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com.
