Murray State wins, Austin Peay & WKU lose Thursday night

Murray State won its ninth straight game and swept the season series with Tennessee Tech in Cookeville last night winning 80-75. The Racers got a pair of double-doubles from KJ Williams and Justice Hill. Williams scored his eighth double-double this season and third consecutive on 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Hill scored 20 points with 10 assists. Murray State is now 19-2/9-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference and welcomes Morehead State tomorrow afternoon.

Despite the trio of Drew Calderon, Carlos Paez, and Elijah Hutchins-Everett combining to score 54 points, Austin Peay fell to Belmont 75-67. The Governors travel to Tennessee Tech Saturday night.

Western Kentucky took its first lead of the game with 44 seconds to play, but UAB hit two three pointers in winning 68-65. Hopkinsville’s Jamarion Sharp had 11 points, six blocks and six rebounds in a losing effort. WKU is now 10-10/2-5 in Conference USA heading into a Saturday afternoon home date with Middle Tennessee. Women’s Scores: Austin Peay edged Belmont 70-68, UAB over Western Kentucky 86-70 and fifth ranked Louisville downed Florida State 75-62.
In the SEC: Auburn upset 4th ranked Tennessee 71-61, Vanderbilt defeated Kentucky 75-67.
