adidas Originals Debuts the All-New NMD_V3
Launching in “Utility Green/Legend Ink/Gold Metallic.”
adidas Originals first released the NMD back in 2015, and over its seven-year lifecycle, the pair has been interpreted in about as many ways as possible. From the hugely popular collaborative line with Pharrell Williams to city-exclusive iterations and the legendary OG pair, the NMD now gets a revival ahead of its global 2022 relaunch, appearing as the NMD_V3.
Dropping in “Utility Green/Legend Ink/Gold Metallic,” this NMD_V3 is the first pair to come of what’s inevitably going to be a big shoe for the Three Stripes this year. Various updates can be found all around that make this pair unique, particularly on the upper which eschews Primeknit in favor of a stretch-knit upper made from at least 50% recycled materials. However, from the photos, the upper looks closer to something structured, as if it’s been covered in a clear layer to keep the pair strong.
The theme is continued with exposed taping and stitching designs that mark out the Three Stripes on the mid-panels, while areas such as the toe box appear to be reinforced. At the heel, you’ll find a semi-transparent clip that doesn’t wear the Trefoil logo, but is adorned with a webbing heel strap like the one found on the tongue.
Elsewhere, the full-length BOOST midsole has been partially covered with semi-transparent blue and pink-tinged midsole plugs, covering the base in some areas with the same material, while a final touch of rope lacing rounds out the pair.
As of writing, the adidas Originals NMD_V3 in “Utility Green/Legend Ink/Gold Metallic” is only going to be available on adidas’ regional Australian website. It is set to drop on January 31, costing $240 AUD (approximately $168 USD).
In other news, a pair of Michael Jordan game-worn Converses are going up for sale at auction.
