Scot wins Leonard Bernstein prize
NewsThe 2022 Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Leonard Bernstein Award has gone to the Scottish guitarist Sean Shibe.
It’s worth 10,000 Euros and will be presented in summer at a concert conducted by Christoph Eschenbach.
The judges said that Shibe, who is part-Japanese, mixes ‘musical genres and epochs in an unusual way’. He also plays electric guitar and lute.
The judges were: Eschenbach, Jamie Bernstein Thomas and Alexander Bernstein, ex-DG producer Ute Fesquet, ex-AskonasHolt chief Martin Campbell-White and a local sponsor.
