FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Yukon Quest has moved the start location to Circle, Alaska!

This change along with changes to the trail route have been imposed after evaluation of the Taylor Hwy. and surrounding area have concluded that it is impossible to establish trials in Tok and the other parts of the course leaving Tok. The new starting line will be in Circle with the course running from Circle to Eagle then back to Circle. Both of those stops will be layover destinations. When the teams have left Circle the second time, they will continue on to Central and finally head back on to the remaining portion of normal route to Two Rivers, and Fairbanks, where the race ends.

Despite the change of location, the starting day remains to be Feb. 5, with the first musher going out at 3:00 p.m. However, fans are discouraged from going to Circle for the start as the community will be closed to spectators as a measure of protection against COVID-19. Fans are still encouraged to view the finish in Fairbanks.

No changes have been made to the YQ200 and we will continue to have updates on both races as necessary.
