The Atlanta Hawks have been playing at a level that exemplifies the type of play that they need in order to get into the playoffs.

Head coach Nate McMillan can sleep better at night, now that his message of being focused on defense is finally coming through. The Hawks defeated the Sacramento Kings last night after getting off to a slow start, and currently on a five-game winning streak. It’s going to take a lot of thought and investigating to understand exactly why the Hawks have been playing so well as of late, but the big question is whether or not it is sustainable.

Chris Kirschner, of the Athletic, joined the Jon Chuckery show to discuss the streak the Hawks have been on. “I think the bench has been pretty remarkable over the past seven games,” Kirschner said.

The Hawks’ bench scored a season-high 70 points against the Kings. It’s not realistic to expect that kind of production every night, but they can get consistent scoring from their bench, the Hawks will be right where they want to be at the end of the season.
