KRCR's Chief Photographer, Adam McAllister, visited the river underneath the E Cypress bridge on Thursday and said heavy machinery has been left behind as well as floating barriers on the river to catch any remaining fuel.
The crash occurred last Friday on January 21, near the intersection of Pine St. and East St. The tanker leaked a petroleum product and couldn't be moved until the tank was drained and the fuel was cleaned up. The driver of the tanker sustained moderate injuries during the crash and was hospitalized.
California Fish and Wildlife Environmental Scientist Hailey Cole said the majority of the fuel spilled into Calaboose Creek off Park Marina Drive, and eventually into the Sacramento River.
