What big drama awaits Chicago P.D.‘s Upton? Which of the Ghosts has a terror-ble secret? Who is returning to The Resident? Is The Equalizer doing some addition? Read on for answers to those questions plus teases from other shows. (Email any brand-new Qs to InsideLine@tvline.com.)
Chicago P.D. teased a big episode coming up for Hailey, now that it has finished filming, what can we expect? –Ebun
In the #OneChicago cop drama’s first post-Olympics outing, airing Feb. 23 and titled “Still Water,” Upton while out for a jog witnesses a horrible car crash and risks her own life to save the passengers. Then, after learning more about the victims, the team must track down the man responsible for the brutal crash.
Anything to divulge yet on Outlander Season 6? –Trace
Here’s what we can tell you about the Starz hit’s March 6 season premiere: The episode features a lengthy flashback a painful period in one character’s life, and in the present, two characters seek respite from their problems via means they probably shouldn’t. (One, book readers can likely guess. The other, maybe not.)
Any ETA for the back half of Ozark Season 4? –Sam
Nothing to share yet. Just know that Netflix’s decision to send Ozark out with a 14-episode farewell run (to be split into two seven-episode chunks, the first of which dropped last week) represented a compromise between the streamer and the series’ producers. “It was originally going to be 10, but we wanted a little bit more,” showrunner Chris Mundy divulges to TVLine. “And then we kind of [arrived at] 14 together. Fourteen was something that, if divided up, would [allow] each part to feel substantial and distinct. And it felt like a good number where we could [finish out] the story but not overstay our welcome.” Look for Season 4B to premiere later this year.
Are we ever going to see the Michelle Yeoh Star Trek series? –Luke
All I have to report is that the Georgiou-centric Section 31 spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery, which was officially set in motion more than three years ago, is still in development.
Are there any plans to bring back Dr. Bell’s former stepson Jake on The Resident? –Kevin
Jake will indeed reappear in (at least) the Feb. 1 winter premiere, where he’ll play a large role in helping Bell process his new medical diagnosis.
Do you have anything you can tell us about Ty and Annie’s dynamic in Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias? –Cassie
Complicated would be the best word to describe Ty and Annie’s situation in Season 2 (premiering Friday, Feb. 4), and even that feels like an understatement. The night of the accident will leave its mark on everyone in town, and no relationship — romantic or otherwise — will emerge unscathed. Annie and Ty both have exciting journeys ahead of them, even if they aren’t what fans are probably expecting.
Thorfinn is my favorite of the Ghosts. Anything on his upcoming storylines? –Mel
In an upcoming episode titled “Thorapy,” Jay and Sam ask some of the ghosts to free up bedrooms for the B&B’s opening by bunking up — and Thor’s new roomie discovers that the Viking suffers from terrible night terrors.
Can you tell me anything about Mayans? A possible return date? –RE
No date has been locked in yet, but the Sons of Anarchy offshoot should be back sometime this spring.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve really getting into The Kings of Napa. Got any scoop? — Ashlee
Be sure to put down your Merlot before watching Tuesday’s episode of the new OWN drama. One, maybe two spit takes are almost guaranteed as “Dear Wine People” throws a jaw-dropper of a twist into the ongoing “Who’s the extortionist?” mystery.
Can you give us any scoop about TC being Cade’s foster parent on Magnum P.I.? This might be one of my favorite plots ever for TC, and I’d like to know what to expect from it. –Fran
You can expect that brand-new (and emotional!) plot development to be substantially revisited in the Feb. 25 episode.
I am already obsessed with Fox’s The Cleaning Lady! Do you have any scoop on Thony and Arman? Their chemistry is hot! –Beth
I relayed your Q to executive producers Miranda Kwok and Melissa Carter, and they write back, “We’re definitely gonna keep seeing sparks fly between Thony and Arman this season — so hold onto your seats for a thrilling and emotional rollercoaster ride.”
Are there any plans for Denzel Washington to guest-star on a future episode of The Equalizer? –Kailey
There is certainly nothing to report on that Equalizer-meets-Equalizer front, though we sure do have a perfect role for him: Before the hit CBS sophomore wraps its season, viewers will be introduced to Robyn’s never-before-seen ex-husband (and father to Delilah).
Any intel on a second Ray Donovan movie? —Joel
There’s nothing in the works, but here’s a scoop to fill your sequel-coveting void: Amid all the death and despair that went down in Ray Donovan: The Movie, showrunner David Hollander confirmed to Michael Ausiello that Bunchy will indeed take estranged wife Teresa up on her offer to relocate to Los Angeles to be near her and their daughter, giving Ray’s troubled younger brother something that has thus far eluded the rest of the Donovan clan: a happy ending.

I would really like some new news on legacies cause while its doing better than past seasons we arent being fed alot of info to keep us happy until the show returns.
Id also like to know who the big bad of flash season 8 is cause that also is kept in mystery
I also have been wondering why there’s no promotional stuff on Legacies. Only thing I saw was the piece on Kaylee Bryant’s decision to leave the show. I remember reading something about Flash S8 having more crossover stuff with Superman and also with Stargirl. Not a big fan of those rumors.
it depends what promotional material you are talking about
Next episode of Chicago pd sounds boring . Can’t they focus on someone else
Yeah they Gabby-izing Detective Uptight has been making CPD unwatchable. Really why is anybody else in that cast still there anymore if Felony Barbie can solve every case and fart rainbows?
They haven’t had a Hailey episode since November lol. You guys didn’t get your fill of everyone else over this past couple month? Their stories weren’t good enough for you? Sounds like you just want to be mad about everything all the time
Um, the whole season was practically about her and her horrible PTSD, ( from killing a man who was going to kill Voight)
Then, all about her Relationship.
Meanwhile, Burgess had the terrible experience of being shot and almost dying, and she was back on the job, no big deal.
I’ll admit Upton isn’t my favorite character. She always has a “know it all” expression, and I don’t see chemistry with Jay at all.
Burgess is, just my opinion, the heart of the show. A badass, but sensitive and empathetic.
I’d love to see more of Platt and her sarcasm, Atwater, and I feel like Ruzek and Burgess have a much more interesting dynamic than Upton and Halstead.
They need to ease back on Upton, the perfect hero. Enough.
why so bitter???? always with the name-calling… says a lot about you. Glad that the writers know that she’s the best part of the show!
Why so triggered replying to everyone telling the truth that blondie is overrated and about as interesting as a freshly painted wall. Says more about you the truth hurts Upton is a Mary Sue and I’m not the only one who knows it.
You sound big mad, Dean. Maybe save the nasty for your next incel support group meeting
Once you quit being a blind fanboy to the sanctimonious Uptight Upton.
Definitely NOT the best part of the show.
I hope that things get better for you Dean.
Hailey sucks. I know it others know it.
They’ve been focusing on kevin and burgess. Are you skipping their episodes, or..?
Episodes 1-9 was pretty much to do with the Voight/Halstead /Upton storyline . JMO
Aparently the next episode is going to have Hailey and Kevin working as partners. A pairing we have never gotten. It’s possible that this will tie into the Celeste storyline. I could see Hailey giving Kevin advice on repairing the damage his lie of omission caused. The episode could focus on Kevin, Hailey and Jay with Burzek taking a back seat.
Probably for Hailey to shack up with Atwater given she’s done through half of the men in the unit already.
Wht post a ridiculous comment like that? She’s married now and Kevin would never do that to Jay.
First Ruzek, now, Jay, maybe Hailey is tired of snacking on white chocolate.
I’m looking forward to the show returning in March.
Woohoo! The Cleaning Lady is a fab cast with excellent content…Luv Oliver Hudson in a roll that he can exercise his drama chops! Great actor so underrated! The writers deserve kudos as well! I hope this series is around for a long time! Keeps you on the edge of your seat!👍😉🤗
Best role for Hudson since he played that slimy record producer on Nashville.
Omg thank you for letting me know Ozarks has 2 parts! I was so extremely upset when it ended, because I thought it was over. Didn’t know it had 2 parts. That’s how they just did the last season of MONEY HEIST. But when the first half ended they told us there would be another half. When Ozark ended they didn’t say ANYTHING about there being another half at the end like money heist did.
With Star Trek: Picard announcing that they were finished after Season 3, I expect that Section 31 will fill that void in the calendar for Paramount+.
Plus, that will be a hard show to get right. Sect 31 has been this concept that is cool in theory, but will be very hard to convey in a drawn out project.
Not to mention how insanely busy Michelle Yeoh is these days!
I hope they take their time with it; I agree it’ll be hard to get right and I don’t think they’ll be so wanting for Star Trek content that they’ll want to rush something out, even if (and it is still IF) Picard is done after s3.
There’s also possibly a Starfleet Academy show to be produced; they maybe set that up a bit this season of Discovery and I know from interviews that that’s an idea that’s been considered for a long time as well. It may be ready before Section 31.
Either way though the television Star Trek world is coming along really nicely.
They have NOT confirmed that. I hadn’t heard anything so I looked into it: Stewart said in a magazine interview that they were “close to wrapping the series” but it’s NOT clear he was meaning “series” in the US sense or the UK and the magazine has stated they were not confirming the show will end with season three.
There’s been no official announcement from the actual show or network.
Of course it’s possible it will end with season three; it’s obviously not a show that is intended to go on for many years, but it is not announced as ending with s3 at this time.
That Brit (and I think Canadian as well) custom of calling each season of a show a “series” is rather odd
Isn’t every episode of Chicago PD Haley centered.
No. She was barely in the last episode. She had the least amount screen time of anyone in the Intelligence Unit in the most recent episode. She also did not have much of a role in the episode preceding it. Lies (S9, E11).
I wish they’d boot her off the show. I can’t stand her bossy sanctimonious azz.
Amen! And her story arc took most of the season!
Oops, missed some screen time in the last episode, better make first episode of the new season all about her.
In the last 3 episodes, Hailey has been in the background. The next episode she will be partnered with Kevin. The episode could focus on her and Kevin with the two of them talking about Celeste. It could be a good way to explore that storyline and have Kevin repair his relationship with Celeste. There will be plenty of Burzek moments coming up, the producers have promised it. There will probably be less of Hailey in the second half of the season.
I’m pretty sure I heard they were holding onto the Section 31/Georgiou-centric show until one or more of the current shows go off the air. They were worried that with 5 shows already currently in production that might tip it a little too far.
Also, is Michelle Yeoh available? She is in everything right now. It’s not a problem, because she’s awesome, but how would she fit a series in at the moment?
THANK GOD we’re getting another Hailey episode! Her storylines are always the best. Finally something to look forward to!
What is happening in New Amsterdam? The last episode blew up the Resistance, had multiple doctors demoted or fired, Max is staying but Helen is going back to London??? What’s up with Leyla? First she tells Lauren she can’t work with her and then she says Lauren should stay and continue running the ED. Leyla further states that she has gone through breakups before and she can handle working with Lauren. I enjoy the show very much but the writers are giving me whiplash.
ray’s happy ending, bunch’s, that was obvious. I think Ray’s confession and jumping into his father’s arms in that life passing before your eyes in the ambulance flashback may mean death or life, lots of water scenes death or no death in the series. The question is Bridget. They all cover for her, but what happens next? And her brother? Like he never existed in the movie. Both wars are over. When does he come home?
Cue the loony Hailey/Tracy haters who always descend en masse whenever there is the slightest mention of the absolute best actress and character on Chicago PD. I want as much storyline focus as possible on Hailey Halstead! Second only to Hank Voight she is the show’s main attraction for me.
Does Blue Bloods ever plan on promoting anyone. Jamie made sergeant, Gormley Lieutenant, but no one else. Give us a break and promote someone, Danny, Baez, Eddie, Abigail, Joe, heck u can even make Jamie a lieutenant, and Gormley a captain.
I’m happy to hear that Bunchy is getting a happy ending. I’ve posted on social media – more than once – that he is probably the saddest character that has ever been written.
Haley ain’t the best part of the show she’s the worst part.I don’t like her she’s crooked like Voight and so is Jay she should of when to jail for what she did.Shes a crooked cop she planted drugs on someone because they couldn’t get him that’s the reason Voight sent her to F B I to work with them and she got Darius killed Kevin is the best one on Chiago P D.
SUCKS that trek-discovery moved to where i can not watch it. good show when i could……
