The Super Bowl will take place Sunday, Feb. 13th at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

On Thursday, Jan. 27th, T.J. Watt, outside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, tweeted that he has awarded a trip to the Super Bowl to the family of a deceased a military veteran.

That family just happens to live in Fresno.

T.J. Watt teamed up with USAA, Official NFL Salute to Service Partner, and Together We Served, to award the family of a deceased military service member an experience of a lifetime – a trip to the Super Bowl (along with one guest). USAA will be coordinating a similar effort with other players around the league.

Below is the details of the deceased service member and his military family:

Duel Jeans

Duel Jeans entered the United States Marine Corps in 1947 and was discharged in 1951. Earning the rank of Sergeant, he served as an automotive mechanic. While serving, he was deployed to China in 1947 and to Korea during the Korean War, from 1950-1951. After his military service, he worked for General Motors for over 40 years. Duel (along with his wife Pamela) was very active with Together We Served, helping the group create over 15,000 Korean War Marine Corps Veteran Remembrance profiles on the Together We Served website.

Duel passed away in 2013 and is survived by his wife, Pamela, and their children.

Pamela Jeans

Following her husband Duel’s passing, Pamela stayed on with Together We Served as a historian, proud to carry on the project she and her husband had begun. She considers it an honor to remember Korean War fallen and deceased. A Pittsburgh Steelers fan, she now resides in Fresno, Calif., and will be brining her son, Kelly, a New Orleans Saints fan, to the Super Bowl.

T.J. Watt

T.J. Watt is scheduled to meet with Pamela Jeans and other attending military members at USAA’s Salute to Service Lounge during Super Bowl weekend (Friday, 2/11 and Saturday, 2/12)* in Los Angeles at the NFL’s Super Bowl Experience. Open only to current military, veterans, and their families, USAA’s Salute to Service Lounge will feature NFL, players, coaches, personalities, and legends. Events like this are an example of how USAA uses its NFL partnership to authentically honor and appreciate our military.

“It’s a special honor to join USAA and Together We Served to award a trip to the Super Bowl to the family of deceased USMC Sergeant Duel Jeans, a Korean War veteran who continued to serve his fellow veterans for decades until his passing, said T.J. Watt."

I am looking forward expressing my gratitude for his service when I meet with his wife, Pamela, in Los Angeles at the Super Bowl.
