New Whatsapp Update To Change How It Sends Files On Android

Sometimes, it’s the little things that really make an app better. According to WABeta, there’s a change coming to Whatsapp that should make sharing files just a bit easier. It will let you find older items in your gallery faster and easier.

This new Whatsapp update will let you find your older files even easier

People who use Whatsapp on a regular basis know how easy it is to send files to others. You tap on the attachment button and select whether you want to share a document, a photo/video, an audio file, a location, a contact, or go to your camera. If you want a fast track to sharing photos or videos, you can just tap on the camera icon next to the attachment icon.

There’s a new update that’s coming to the Meta-owned app that will make accessing your older files a bit quicker. Right now, if you tap on the camera icon, you swipe up to access your recent files. If you need to find an older file, you will need to go back to the attachment button and pick the Gallery button. That’s not a huge hassle, but it’s just another step in the process.

The latest beta version, version 2.22.4.4, will add a tabbed view to the camera menu. When you tap on the camera icon, you’ll see two tabs. One tab is labeled “Recent”, and the other one is labeled “Gallery”. To get to your older files, all you have to do is tap on the Gallery tab.

This is still in beta

If you send a lot of files to your contacts, then you’re probably looking forward to this feature. Unfortunately, it’s still in the beta stage. There’s no word on when this feature will have an official release. Since there are screenshots of this feature, it could mean that it’s pretty far along in the process. It doesn’t seem like it’d be too long before it officially releases.

In Other Whatsapp News: The Whatsapp web client is getting better 2SV

If you’re on the internet at all, then you know the importance of security. Whatsapp gives you the option to enable 2 Step Verification. This is an extra layer of security to help protect your account. It’s been available to use on the mobile versions of the app, but the web client didn’t have the best 2SV.

Thankfully, the company is improving the 2SV for the web client. Along with a 6-digit code that you need to input, you also need to have a personal PIN. This new feature could come along in the next couple of weeks.
