MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – This weekend, we’re going to feature some events from our friends to the East as Wausau and Nekoosa will be the site of some fun events. Check out our list below:

  1. HARDWATER FREAKS ANNUAL ICE EVENT 2022 (Saturday) – This year’s Hardwater Freaks Ice Event will be hosted at the Lure Bar & Grill in Nekoosa and will feature live music, fishing, lunch, guest speakers, raffles, and much more.
    Two years ago, the annual event raised just over $13,000 and last year’s event nearly doubled that total at $25,442.00.
    The HARDWATER FREAKS Annual Ice Event is for everyone!
    Timeline
    4:00 a.m.: Beach launch opens for those who wish to bring friends and family out for a morning of hammering walleyes before the main event.
    11:00 a.m.: Event doors open for registration check-in and raffle purchase.
    12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Lunch
    4:00 p.m.: Last call for raffle ticket purchases as sales will end promptly at 4:30 p.m.
    5:00 p.m: Group photo and National Anthem performed by recording artist ZAKK DANIEL. We ask that everyone be present for the National Anthem to pay tribute to the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our beloved nation.

  2. WINTER FEST 2022 (Saturday) –
    Join Wausau Events for Winter Fest beginning at 11 a.m.!
    This event will take place on the 400 Block in Wausau, with activities being held in the Great Hall.
    400 BLOCK ACTIVITIES:
    -Ice Skating
    -Curling Demonstrations
    -Ice Sculptures
    -Gaming tent provided by Fox City Flix
    GREAT HALL ACTIVITIES:
    (Attendees must be masked indoors at all times)
    -Cookies & Cocoa provided by The Joint Chiropractic and Pepsi
    -Kid’s Craft by the Marathon County Historical Society
    -Upper Iowa University Kid’s Craft
    -Rasmussen College Temporary Tattoos
    -Tundraland Kid’s Activity
    -Renewal by Andersen Kid’s Activity
    -Take Home activity for the kids by Marathon County Public Library
    *There will also be an additional activity happening inside the CVA next door!*
  3. POP UP PLAY N’ LEARN (Saturday) –  If you have a dog that needs to be trained while having fun, this is the event for you! *New INDOOR location- Stable Hands Equine Therapy Center @ 142744 Countryside Drive Wausau, WI 54401*
    Three classes will be held on Saturday the 29th with the first class being at 10 AM, the second class at 12:15 PM and the last class at 2:15 PM.
    In an effort for each participant (k9 & human) to get the maximum benefit of the class, class sizes are limited to eight dogs apiece, so please sign up early.
    Each class will last roughly an hour and 15 to an hour and 30 minutes in length.
    Class format is generally composed of lessons geared towards leash manners, confidence building, agility exercises and being socially behaved.
    All dogs that are both “saints and sinners” are welcomed to attend with safety being a top priority.
    These classes are being hosted by the folks at the K9 Sanctuary in Morgan WI who help rehabilitate working breed dogs with behavioral and trust issues.
    A fee of $25 per dog will be charged with the proceeds divided up between the Wausau Humane Society and the K9 SanctuaryLLC.
