Stephen Curry’s continued shooting woes hasn’t kept the Warriors from winning

The Golden State Warriors have now won 3 in a row and 4 of their last 5.

However, while that sounds great and all, Stephen Curry still hasn’t truly broken out of his shooting slump. Curry scored 18 points against the Dallas Mavericks in a blowout victory at home on Wednesday night.

Stephen Curry has been far from his typically-dominant self over the past few weeks, but that hasn’t stopped the Warriors from getting back on track.

Prior to that, Curry scored 13 in a win against the Jazz. Even before that, Curry had 22 against the Rockets. Although he hit the lone buzzer-beating game-winning shot of his career, he’s still failing to top his season scoring average.

Despite that 22-point performance along with a 39-point showing against the Indiana Pacers in a disappointing home loss, Curry has been held to under 20 points in 4 of the last 6 games he’s played in.

For a former two-time MVP, that’s not pretty, especially one currently gunning for his third trip to the podium for the award. Curry, at one point, was the favorite to win MVP, but since he’s cooled off, it’s more than likely that Joel Embiid or Ja Morant has taken over that claim.

Curry seemingly did his best against the Mavericks to find his rhythm, taking the ball to the rim more often than not. However, as the game settled in, he returned to his bread and butter, three-point shooting.

Sadly, Curry went just 1-for-10 from deep. The Warriors have been playing well the last few games, and he’s still just shooting 25% from three. On top of that, he’s shooting under 36% from the field.

The best part about the past week has been that Curry’s woes haven’t impacted the team’s ability to win; however, they certainly aren’t at their peak if Curry isn’t lighting up the scoreboard, and that’s easy to understand.

Part of Curry’s issues could also be because of the absence of three-time All-Star forward Draymond Green. Green is the distributor of the team’s offense, leading the team in assists per game. Without him, the Warriors have struggled to consistently score.

While that can’t be an excuse for a player of Curry’s caliber, it certainly is a reason for his struggles. Regardless, Curry has two games left at home before the Warriors take another road trip, so hopefully, he can get going prior to that.

Nonetheless, Golden State has managed to win without his dominance which has been the best part of the Dubs’ recent success.
