A 30-year-old Salem man was injured in a crash involving a field spreader that was traveling on U.S. 51 near Ferrydale Road north of Sandoval early
Wednesday night.

State Police say the spreader was being operated by Harvey Dagg of Bennett Street.

Sandoval Fire Chief Chad Parson says the spreader was driving south and crossing the bridge over East Fork Creek when it moved to the side to give more room to a northbound semi-trailer when one of the wheels caught the guard rail sending the spreader down the embankment into the woods.

The driver was able to exit the vehicle on his own and was transported by Sandoval ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Parson says the spreader was empty and not carrying any fertilizer at the time of the crash.

The spreader was owned by FS Total Grain Management.

The crash occurred at 6:07 Wednesday night.
