Teams across the NFL are making big decisions regarding their coaching staffs, and some teams have already hired new head coaches.
Despite that development, the Miami Dolphins seem to be more than happy to take a more patient approach to the process of filling the head coaching vacancy in South Florida.
According to a report, the Dolphins are planning to hold second interviews for their top candidates early next week.
The Dolphins made the somewhat surprising decision to fire former head coach Brian Flores after the end of the 2021 regular season. In his three seasons with the Dolphins, Flores had an overall record of 24-25. While he enjoyed winning campaigns in his second and third seasons, he never succeeded in leading the Dolphins to the postseason.
Moreover, it was rumored that there were some pretty serious issues behind the scenes amongst the Miami coaching stuff during the 2021 campaign.
With that tough decision behind them, the Dolphins seem to be narrowing down their top choices for who will become the next head coach in Miami. Right now, signs are pointing to Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.
Daboll has helped turn the Bills into an offensive powerhouse, and he reportedly already has “solid support” in the Dolphins organization. Surely, if he does end up becoming the next head coach, it will be a clear sign that the Dolphins brass wants to focus on improving offensively.
Still, with hirings taking place across the league, the Dolphins shouldn’t wait too long to make a decision.
