Joy Behar was tossing shade right and left on The View today, and one particular roast might’ve been lobbed right into Meghan McCain‘s court. While the panelists had a smooth chat about controlling children and forcing them into specific career paths, Behar decided it was time to take a stance on the whole concept of nepotism. It’s a concept The View has debated in the past, but luckily for Behar, her comment slid under the radar during today’s taping.

The hot topic was presented with a story about a mother who won’t allow her daughter to grow too interested in sports like basketball, instead narrowing her prospectives to more feminine activities like ballet. “How much do you let your kids find their own way?” moderator Whoopi Goldberg asked her co-hosts. “And how much guidance do you give them?”

While Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and guest host Lisa Ling all chimed in with the various outfits and passions their kids stuck to while growing up, Behar veered off a bit, enlightening the audience about her daughter’s entire career path.

“Well, my daughter was very independent as a little kid, like four or five years old,” Behar began. “She would just not want to wear pants when it was 2 degrees outside! I gave her double leotards and a skirt and that’s how she wanted to be. Every year, she’d wear crazy combinations.”

Seems like The View needs a take your child to work day! Anyways, Behar then shifted to her daughter’s adult years of life, suggesting a path in comedy and TV could work — because Behar, herself, could assist.

“Then, when she graduated college, I said, ‘Maybe go into television.’ I figure, why not use nepotism? Everyone else does,” Behar said, earning some laughs from her co-hosts. “But she said ‘No, I don’t like it.’ They think it’s brain surgery over there, the way they act toward you.”

Behar’s daughter, Eve Behar Scotti, worked in television as a producer for a bit, but exited to open her own ceramics studio. The apple does fall far from the tree, when it comes to the Behar family.

The View airs weekdays on ABC at 11/10c.
