CORONA, Calif. (KNX) — Riverside County transportation officials suspended a planned closure of the westbound 91 Freeway in Corona last weekend due to a forecast of high winds. That closure has been pushed to this weekend, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday.

Through 5 a.m. Monday, all westbound lanes of the freeway will be shut down from McKinley Street to Main Street to accommodate a construction project. Westbound 91 Express Lanes in Riverside County and the westbound 91 off-ramp at McKinley will also be closed.

The closure was intended to allow crews to erect support structures for the installation of a $270 million ramp connecting toll lanes on the 91 and 15 freeways, according to the Riverside County Transportation Commission.

Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes. Detours are set up, though delays are expected. Detours include:
- Taking the 15 north, then exiting at Hidden Valley Parkway, turning south onto the 15, then west on the 91.
- Taking the 15 south, exiting at Magnolia Avenue, turning north onto the 15, then west on the 91.
- Exiting the 91 at McKinley Street, taking Magnolia Avenue west, turning north onto the 15, then west on the 91.
