Neighbours spoilers follow from Thursday's episode in the UK (January 27), which some Australian viewers may prefer to avoid.

Neighbours has aired a troubling new twist for Terese Willis, with Leo Tanaka now blaming her for Britney Barnes's death.

Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglou) has already been blaming herself for the destruction of the Flamingo Bar in the storm, which led to Britney's tragic demise.

In Thursday's episode on Channel 5, Britney's grieving partner Leo finally discovered what Terese has been hiding about the night of the storm.

Leo had decided to sue the council following Britney's death, believing that someone should be held accountable.

As part of his efforts, Leo approached Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) and asked for a copy of the Lassiters safety report relating to the storm.

Leo was curious when Chloe refused to immediately hand over the report, which appeared to be a sign that the business had something to hide.

Later, Terese and her estranged husband Paul (Stefan Dennis) returned to the penthouse after a marriage counselling session.

The pair appeared to have made progress by opening up to each other, with Paul realising that his constant meddling in his family's lives could be a response to traumas from his past.

However, the moment was interrupted when Leo stormed into the penthouse after stealing a copy of the Lassiters safety report.

Despite Chloe's protests that he'd read an incomplete version of the document, Leo confronted Terese and asked: "How can you live with yourself?"

When Terese wanted to know what he was talking about, Leo added: "The safety report. The one that makes it crystal clear you're the reason Britney's dead."

Last week, Terese admitted to Chloe that she'd briefly delayed evacuating the Flamingo Bar during the storm as she was distracted by seeing Glen Donnelly (Richard Huggett) and Sharon Canning (Natasha Herbert) together.

Chloe pointed out that, with such slim timings, Terese's delay wouldn't have made any difference.

Tim Kano, who plays Leo, recently told Digital Spy: "She apparently had an opportunity to evacuate the bar sooner than it was, but she was too busy dealing with her own personal issues.

"Leo definitely goes on the warpath against Terese, wanting someone to pay. He ends up doing his own research, as a true Robinson would, by snooping around to find out what could have been done.

"When the conclusion comes out that it could have been Terese's fault, he definitely sees red and really goes for her."

Can Leo be talked round, or is this the start of longer-term animosity between him and Terese?

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
