It seems likely EastEnders will remain in their normal time slots. They are confident about the future of the show.

This means Emmerdale and Coronation Street will likely go up against EastEnders.

I get some of what they are saying but the whole IPlayer Statement they always make isn’t quite true, there viewers on iplayer are about 200k/300k at best as was out last week so even adding that on top it’s still not close to the other two. I’m not hating on EE it’s just facts.

If I was them just move EE to the 7pm slot and outmanoeuvre them that way. Why go up against them when you know you will lose? Silly

Good 👏 so they shouldn't have to move to suit ITV the farm soap and the old fart soap. Thanks.

10pm repeat of EastEnders should return to BBC Three because it'll view better. Weekends isn't the same day. I think I'll be watching on IPlayer from now on.

Perhaps they should consider that it will harm their BBC Angry Bald Man soap

Angry bold man, I love it!

At the very least just move it to 730 each night. The One Show will get higher ratings than the ITV News.

I give it a few months before they begin to panic.

Brave decision but one I think they'll end up regretting.

I give it a few months before they begin to panic.

The only risk with that is that if they panic and make the move in June, EE won’t be able to settle into a new slot because Wimbledon, Women’s Euro and Commonwealth Games will roll up from late June - mid August to turf EE scheduling around like a brutal tennis rally in heatwave hypothesis with EE doing all the running in terms of changing slots for various sports and heatwaves will only hit them harder too if occur.

September would be best time for slot change if needed as can settle down ahead of more movement during World Cup in November/December.

Me too I almost always tape everything on channels with adverts so I can skip through them, always have loads on tape so that there is no excuse to sit though them.

This is then proof in the pudding BBC couldn't careless about the current situation with EE 🤦🏼‍♂️

It'll end up getting the Holby treatment if ratings decline further. What a waste of £87 million.

I've said on here long before the set was built - but when it was already announced - that the show needed to get its act together before even considering a new set.

They needed to improve the characters, writing and quality of stories before they even considered constructing a new set.

There is no point of a shiny new set of the same old bad produced rubbish is being churned out.

However, the BBC clearly hasn't learned any lessons from the days of Eldorado, when they wasted £10 million on a set that would only be used for a year.

Except those who watch all three now have to choose ... not all of us watch on I player, not all of us want to "catch up" we want to watch live!

But I guess us "oldies" over the age of 50 don't count any more. 🙄

It really does! They have the chance to move it so it doesn't clash, yet they would rather leave it where it is, against the ITV soaps which usually get more viewers, plus if someone is watching an itv soap, they are not going to turn over to watch EE and miss the other soaps, yes you can record, or "catch up" but as I said, above, some of us like watching live and should have the choice.

I just think it's daft not to swap EE and whatever dross they put on before it at 7 (looking at you One Show and Question of "yawn" sport), to give EE a fighting chance, if the BBC think The One Show, Panarama and Question of Sport will rate better than Emmerdale and Coronation Street, fine, it's only the viewers who will miss out as usual.

Why should EastEnders have to move time slot because of those scumbags at itv.Have not watched itv for years. Started watching dales four weeks ago, but won't after they move.

Well that's your choice not to watch it,

Whether ITV are being "scumbags" or not, the fact remains that those who like to watch all 3 soaps live, will no longer get that choice.

And given the ITV soaps usually rate higher than EE on a head to head basis, it is EE and it's viewers who will suffer in the long run, as if EE s figures really drop the BBC will have 2 choices -

Either change the time of EE or cancel it as it is not getting the viewers.

I’m quite surprised eastenders is staying in the same slot. That’s gonna hurt the show long term in the ratings. I watch them all live so obviously that will change and I’ll record it and watch at 7pm the next day. No doubt most people will do that which means no more forum chat for the eps. My guess is they’ll rethink it later in the year and will move it to 7pm.

I get where your coming from but BBC shouldn’t be forced to move there slots just because of ITV. Whether you like The One Show etc that’s your choice but they are popular. If it was the other way round not a chance ITV would reshuffle there Soaps to avoid a clash with EE. As said earlier in the thread personally 7pm is to early and 9pm would be to late
