PD: Driver missed red light in crash that killed parent in front of East Sacramento school
Police on Wednesday said the crash that killed a parent in front of an East Sacramento elementary school was caused by a driver missing a red light.
On Jan. 13, two cars crashed just before 1:30 p.m. right outside of Phoebe Hearst Elementary School. This happened while the parent was crossing the intersection of 60th Street and Folsom Boulevard, the Sacramento Police Department said.
Witnesses told KCRA 3 that parents and staff members raced to help, lifting one of the cars in an attempt to free the victim.

The woman was rushed to the hospital where she later died, police said. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identified the woman as 45-year-old Guadalupe Jimenez.
Police said the two drivers involved were not seriously hurt and cooperated with officers. Detectives determined speed and intoxication are not factors in the crash.
The investigation will be turned over to the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office, where it will decide if criminal charges will be filed. At this point, no arrests were made.
