The San Francisco 49ers are set to take on the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game this Sunday night and the 49ers have received some encouraging news about quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s status.

The quarterback has been playing through multiple injuries to his shoulder and his throwing thumb, but Ian Rapoport has reported that his sprained shoulder has been taken off of the injury report.

Garoppolo’s thumb still seems to be an issue for this weekend’s game, but it still has to be encouraging news going forward for the 49ers.

Here are some reactions to the reports on Garoppolo.

Garoppolo struggled pretty heavily in the 49ers matchup in the Divisional Round against the Green Bay Packers, throwing for only 131 yards and an interception. The defense and special teams played a huge role in the game, ending in a Robbie Gould game-winning field goal. The offense put up zero touchdowns on the day and the Niners only scored through defense or special teams.

It can certainly be disputed whether or not his shoulder played a role in his recent struggles, but the 49ers will need him to be at his best to have a chance of advancing to the Super Bowl.
