It wasn't looking good for Russian star and world-number two Daniil Medvedev during his Australian Open quarterfinal match against fellow top-ten player Felix Auger-Aliassime. Medvedev was one point away from elimination but managed to fight his way back for an incredible comeback victory. So, how did he do it? After the match, Medvedev said he basically channeled his inner Novak Djokovic to pull off the amazing Australian Open comeback, via ESPN.

“He was playing insane, like better than I have ever seen him play. It was unreal,” Medvedev said. “So third set I had zero confidence in myself and in the outcome of the match.”

“I was not playing my best, and Felix … was all over me,” Medvedev said. “I didn't know what to do so I (asked) myself, ‘What would Novak do?'

Daniil Medvedev shockingly admitted to having “zero confidence” in himself or the “outcome of the match.” Down to his last hope at the Australian Open, Medvedev asked himself “What would Novak Djokovic do?”

Medvedev then proceeded to fight for every point Djokovic-style to somehow come away with the improbable victory over Auger-Aliassime. The Russian star will next play in the semifinals of the Australian Open against world-number four Stefanos Tsitsipas.

If Daniil Medvedev continues channeling his inner Novak Djokovic, he'll be rather hard to beat at the Australian Open from here on out.
