Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan has earned the respect of his peers and fans for his All-Star- and sometimes MVP- level play on the basketball court. However, DeRozan has also become known as one of the NBA's most candid and honest speakers, from opening up about his struggles with mental health to speaking about the death of his father. In an interview with Bleacher Report's Taylor Rooks, DeRozan revealed the hardest thing he's ever had to do in the NBA.

That is quite the burden that Bulls star DeMar DeRozan was carrying. DeRozan's father, who sadly passed away last year, became sick and had to be hospitalized around Christmas of 2018.

DeRozan proceeded to fly by himself to and from the hospitals where his father was staying so he could spend time with him for the better part of three years, which spanned his stints with the Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs. The Bulls star said no one knew about his trips to the hospital, which he made by himself.

DeRozan revealed that the hardest part of this was sitting on the plane by himself, alone with his thoughts. He then had to play in front of thousands of fans while still thinking about what his father was going through.

It's amazing that the Bulls star was able to suit up every night with this weighing on his mind. It's a testament to how strong of a person DeMar DeRozan is.
