SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Following an On Your Side Investigation, the Missouri Attorney General sued a roofing company that suddenly closed.

You might remember last spring, KY3′s Ashley Reynolds told you about Love Our Roof in south Springfield. Customers say they paid deposits and no work was done. With no warning, the company shut its doors.

Court documents indicate the company and its owners violated the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act. Investigators say Love Our Roof made ‘false promises’ and was ‘deceptive’.

The Missouri Attorney General wants the business owners to give refunds totaling nearly $57,000 and pay penalties.

“I think getting our money back is the most important thing in this regard,” said Chase Mills. “Hopefully the attorney general, with a penalty, will stop them from getting into that business practice again.”

Mills paid $9,000 for a roof replacement, that he never received.

Love Our Roof is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. On Your Side called the credit company there that took over when the roofing business closed.

We were told “employees have taken assets or checks for their own benefit.” The owners have not been served yet. They will cooperate with the Attorney General and solve this problem.

On Your Side will continue to follow this story.
