On Tuesday morning, January 25, 57-year-old Alana Leighton of Junction City was arrested at her home for felony hit and run charges.
According to officials with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in the Trinity River area, the hit and run occurred on December 12, 2021, and severely injured a Weaverville man.
Officers served a search warrant to Leighton and found the suspected vehicle as well as 29 firearms and ammunition on the property.
Leighton and her partner, 51-year-old Tim McNeal, also of Junction City, were taken into custody and booked at the Trinity County Jail.
CHP says Leighton faces felony hit and run charges, as well as charges related to being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. McNeal is facing firearm charges as well. However, CHP Says additional firearm charges are being investigated.
The suspect's vehicle was seized as evidence.
