City Hall will reopen to the public Monday due to the recent decrease in COVID-19 cases in Reading and Berks County.

Mayor Eddie Moran announced the reopening Wednesday in a news release.

The building at 815 Washington St. had been closed since Jan. 17 because of the higher number of coronavirus cases reported in the community earlier this month.

Protocols aimed at ensuring the safety of the public and city employees will continue, according to the release.

Mask wearing and social distancing are required regardless of vaccination status.

Virtual meetings also will continue as standard operating procedure to minimize in-person contact.

“I thank all of our fine city employees and members of the public for their full cooperation during these difficult times as we continue providing services while keeping City Hall, the City of Reading, and our entire community safe,” Moran said in the release.
