When I hear a popular brand is launching a collection for Black History Month (or Pride, or Women’s History Month, etc.) I’m a little cynical. Before supporting, I need to make sure the brand is actually giving back to the community in some way, whether in terms of employment (such as when Target hired LGBTQ+ designers for its Pride tees) or a monetary donation of some sort. With Bath & Body Works’ Black History Month 2024 collection, I don’t have to worry. Not only is this collection really nice, but the brand is also making a major donation.

This is the second year the retailer is rolling out a Black History Month line just in time for February’s celebrations. This time around, Bath & Body Works is supporting the American Chemical Society Scholars Program (ACS), which awards renewable scholarships to undergraduate students from historically underrepresented groups in the chemical sciences. As part of a 3-year partnership, Bath & Body Works has donated $200,000 so far.

Not only is there a donation this year but the collection was also created and designed by women of color. The new candle fragrances were created by perfumer Gwen Gonzalez with designer Katrina Judkins helping bring the collection to life. Shop the four candles below to support this important initiative and try a new fragrance at the same time.
