The Boston Celtics reportedly have had interest in veteran Houston Rockets big man and Celtics alumnus Daniel Theis, according to new reporting from HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

In the “HoopsHype” podcast, he and co-host Yossi Gozlan discussed what the Celtics have been up to ahead of the 2022 trade deadline on Feb. 10. In the discussion, Scotto revealed he had “heard … Theis is a name the Celtics called and did some due diligence on,” though the HoopsHype reporter has his doubts about the intensity of interest due to the team’s seeming interest in getting under the tax.

Scotto also noted the Celtics had been fielding calls from around the league regarding rising big man Robert Williams III, but “rival executives believe Boston will hold onto Williams and view him as part of the core around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.”
