ERIC BAILLY cocked up a shootout penalty to hand Egypt victory as he tried embarrassingly to copy Bruno Fernandes' run-and-jump technique.

Ivory Coast centre-back Bailly was the only player to miss from the spot in the last-16 tie following a 0-0 draw.

And the manner of his miss might haunt him as his dreadful impression of Manchester United team-mate Fernandes proved costly.

Taking just one step, then a skip, Bailly sidefooted a soft spot-kick to the right of keeper Abdallah Gomaa.

The keeper dived the right way, albeit too far - but because the penalty was so slow he was able to fling an arm back and scoop it away.
