The 16th Annual Prayer Vigil for Life has been rescheduled for Sunday, Jan. 30, said coordinator Diana Maldonado.

The free vigil, which is open to the public, will be held from 2-3 p.m. at Faith United Community Church, in the church gymnasium. The church is at 3080 Brannon Road, Nicholasville, near the Cracker Barrel.

“Due to our concern for traveler’s safety, we rescheduled the Prayer Vigil for Life originally set for January 16th to Sunday, January 30, 2022,” Maldonado said.

The theme of this year’s vigil is “Yes to Life.”

Greg Williams, president/CEO of Love and Lordship Ministry, will be the principal speaker.

The Lexington-based ministry presents a “Biblical approach to relationships, sexuality, marriage and family and the impact we are called to have in and through Christ’s Church,” the organization’s website says.

Williams hosted a local character education cable show entitled “Character Matters” (2003-2018) for Fayette County Public Schools Educational Television. He and his wife, Ami, co-hosted “Marriage Unleashed,” a guest talk show focused on healthy marriages on WTVQ, channel 36. He is co-author with his wife of the recent book, “The Authority of Love,” which has been called “a wake-up call for the modern-day American church.”

The prayer vigil will honor the sanctity of all human life from the womb to the tomb. It provides an opportunity for pro-life people who were unable to attend the national March for Life on Jan. 21 to gather locally to pray for an end to abortion and to pray for the United States of America.

The sponsor of the vigil is a local chapter of Kentucky Right to Life. Right to Life of Central Kentucky was incorporated in 1972 as a nonsectarian nonprofit, which receives no government funding. Its mission is to restore legal protections to human beings whose lives are threatened by abortion, infanticide, involuntary euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide.

Other activities during the vigil include a Legislative update by State Representative Matt Lockett (R, District 39); a college campus update by Jordan Moorman, regional coordinator of the Kentucky and Ohio, Students for Life of America;
American Heritage Girls Troop 356 will host a Hot Chocolate and Cookie Social.

“Everyone is invited to the Hot Chocolate and Cookie Social, which will take place immediately following the vigil,” Maldonado said.
