Martial's transfer claims

Anthony Martial claims he turned down both Barcelona and Juventus to join Sevilla.

Speaking to Football Italia, he said: “It’s true, Juventus tried to sign me.

“They were talking to my agent but I told him that I preferred Sevilla. It was the best option for my family and me.

“Barcelona held talks with my agent as well, but once again, I said that my priority was Sevilla. I didn’t change my mind. I always keep my word when I say something to somebody.”

Man United's Araujo transfer blow

Man United's transfer pursuit of Barcelona star Ronald Araujo has been dealt a huge blow.

United were said to be on red alert for the defender after he allegedly turned down Barca's initial contract extension offer.

But now, it's been reported by SPORT that the Catalonian giants are confident that Araujo will commit his future to the club.

SPORT also claim that the centre-back is in advanced stages of talks with Barca at the moment.

Ronaldo's playing with 'dummies'

Former Wales international Dean Saunders says Cristiano Ronaldo is 'playing with DUMMIES' at Manchester United.

Saunders, who managed to net 190 club goals, took aim at midfield duo Fred and Scott McTominay after United's disappointing 1-1 draw away at bottom of the table Burnley.

On talkSPORT, Saunders blasted the midfield duo, saying: "At one point they should've been 3-0 up, they were running away with it.

"Then the minute they get a bit of adversity they seem to go backwards and crumble.

"If you asked Ronaldo, 'Who's the worst midfield players you've ever played with in your career?' Fred and [Scott] McTominay won't be far off.

"People are starting to point the finger at Ronaldo, but he's playing with a few dummies, some of them are not on the same wavelength as him.

Ronaldo kisses personalised shinpads

Cristiano Ronaldo gave fans a sneak peek at his infamous personalised shin pads before being brought on against Burnley.

The striker failed to help Manchester United find the winner they were looking for with Jay Rodriguez cancelling out Paul Pogba's first-half strike in a 1-1 draw.

But Ronaldo still caught attention by storming down the tunnel at full-time and by kissing his unique shinpads.

The shinpads have a big photo of Ronaldo's face next to a crest of the Portugal national team.

They also feature each one of CR7's four children - though he will have to order in a new pair once Georgina Rodriguez gives birth to twins this year.

Before he came on at Turf Moor Ronaldo was filmed kissing each one of his kid's faces on the shin pads.

Ferdinand slams Maguire

Harry Maguire has been slated by ex-Manchester United stars including Rio Ferdinand for his latest sub-par performance.

The Red Devils skipper dropped a dreadful display as his side threw away a half-time lead against Burnley at Turf Moor.

BT Sport pundit Ferdinand, 43, said: "This season, you’ve seen that [below-par performances].

“I’m not sure if that’s a hangover from the Euros physically and mentally, I’m not sure. There hasn’t been the consistency of a player you’d expect of that stature.

“Behind closed doors he will take responsibility for that. He doesn’t need to come out here and go crazy and he’ll iron it out.

“The challenge he made just over the halfway line, he’s lucky to stay on the pitch because I feel the striker is running in on goal. It’s a performance he’ll like to erase and get into the next game as quick as possible. But these things happen.”

United's shocking trophy drought

Man United are set to equal their longest trophy drought since they were last relegated… 48 YEARS AGO.

The Red Devils have endured an horrific season.

United's trophy drought currently sits at a worrying four years and eight months - with their most-recent success coming in May 2017 when they won the Europa League under Jose Mourinho.

Should they fail to win the Champions League, they will have to wait until the Carabao Cup final in late February 2023.

That would mean their drought would extend to a staggering five years and ten months - levelling their longest wait for silverware since they were last relegated.

And that was way back in 1974.

McTominay agrees with Ronaldo

Scott McTominay agrees with Cristiano Ronaldo that finishing in the top four does not constitute a successful season for Manchester United.

The Red Devils dropped points at Turf Moor on Tuesday night as relegation-threatened Burnley held them to a 1-1 draw.

But when asked before the Burnley game whether finishing fourth and not winning any silverware was enough for the club this season, McTominay told BT Sport: "No, for me, no.

"That’s the situation we find ourselves in. It's been a difficult situation this year.

"You have to take the rough with the smooth sometimes and get on with it and keep pushing every single game.

"To answer your question, no definitely not.

"It’s true, the lads always speak about it, we’ve got to keep going to change that."

Parker slams Ronaldo's return

Paul Parker claims Ronaldo's return to Man United has been a flop and feels the 37-year-old should've been prepared for the move not to work out.

Parker said to bettors.co.ke: “It hasn't worked out Ronaldo's way but what was he looking for?"

"There's no guarantee that he was gonna come back to Man Utd and because he's come back, they're gonna walk away with the league and it was all going to be about him, everyone just saying that Ronaldo's won them the league.”

“That wasn't going to happen. United weren't in that shape to go and do that. So surely he must've known that when he signed that it wasn't gonna happen.

"Common sense surely would have told him that one player isn't going to change the team. One player, who's 36 years old, isn't gonna change that much.”

Kleberson on Maguire

Ex-Man United ace Kleberson reckons Harry Maguire should take a step back from defensive duties at the club.

United are a much stronger unit without Maguire playing at the back, in Kleberson's eyes.

Following United's dull 1-1 draw with Burnley, Kleberson told PaddyPower: "Manchester United look far more assured with Raphaël Varane and Victor Lindelöf at the back, rather than Harry Maguire.

“Harry Maguire is an excellent player and a very experienced one.

"He (Maguire) organises the back line well but has had a tough time this season in the Premier League, particularly in one-vs-one situations and where he has been short of pace. Speed really troubles him.

“By taking a step back out of the team, he [Maguire] will understand how he can improve by seeing what it is that he needs to get better at, and how he can play better with the other players
around him."

Rio Ferdinand slams Man Utd

Rio Ferdinand slammed Manchester United for a lack of fight in their 1-1 draw against Burnley.

Ferdinand said on BT Sport: "That's the disappointing thing.

"That wasn't good enough from Man United, in terms of getting the result, getting into the top four and showing progression under this regime under Ralf Rangnick.

"So it's disappointing on that front, it wasn't the performance you want to see; a wholesome performance over 90 minutes.

"It was a Jekyll and Hyde performance; the first half was really good, leaving you wanting more.

"In the second half, you're thinking 'where's the energy? Urgency? Where's that fight and that grit?'

"You come to grounds like this and you have to weather storms. Manchester United don't seem to be able do that."

Netflix to show Ronaldo's return

Georgina Rodriguez has signed a new multi-million pound deal to star in a second series of the hit Netflix show about her rags-to-riches life, SunSport can reveal.

The former shop worker's move to Manchester following Cristiano Ronaldo’s Old Trafford return and the upcoming birth of her twins in April will feature heavily in the new serving of ‘I Am Georgina.’

SunSport understands filming has already started after the Spanish beauty put pen to paper with the American streaming giant last week.

Man Utd show Manuel Akanji interest

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund star Manuel Akanji.

He currently has 18 months remaining on his contract in Germany.

However, Dortmund’s latest offer of a new long-term extension worth £8million-a-year in wages has allegedly been rejected by the Switzerland international.

That is according to SPORT1’s chief reporter Patrick Berger.

The former Basel player’s future now remains very uncertain.

And speculation could be about to be ramped up even further surrounding his next move after the journalist also claimed Manchester United are ‘very keen’ to sign him.

Alexis Sanchez sinks Mourinho's Roma

Alexis Sanchez fired home a stunner to give Jose Mourinho an unhappy return to the San Siro.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United forward hit a beauty from outside the box right into the top corner.

It followed on from Edin Dzeko's opener as Inter beat Roma 2-0 to reach the Italian Cup semi-finals.

It marked the first time Mourinho faced Inter at San Siro since he left after leading them to the treble in 2010.

Crouch's Pogba joke

Paul Pogba joked that Paul Pogba will be off soon after seeing the Manchester United star's celebration against Burnley.

After opening the scoring in the 1-1 draw Pogba, 28, pointed to Ralf Rangnick before lifting up three fingers.

He looked buzzing to have scored as BT pundits Rio Ferdinand and Crouch speculated about the meaning behind it.

Presenter Jake Humphrey asked: "He looks straight at the manager, I wonder what he's saying here Rio what do you think?"

Rio Ferdinand replied: "Three more years I'd say."

Peter Crouched then quipped: "Three more weeks."

Man Utd target Youri Tielemans

Man United are eyeing up a £40million move for Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to reports.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with England internationals Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips.

And according to The Star, Tielemans is emerging as their preferred option if Rice and Phillips are unavailable.

Good morning Man Utd fans

Manchester United were held up at Turf Moor where they drew 1-1 against Burnley.

United opened the scoring after 18 minutes with the returning Paul Pogba.

The visitors had two goals disallowed, first it was Raphael Varane's header and then it was an own goal by Josh Brownhill.

The Clarets equalised just two minutes into the second half with Rodriguez’s strike.

United interim boss Ralf Rangnick started Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench because he felt that Edinson Cavani was better suited to the demands that come with facing Burnley.

Rangnick told MUTV before kick-off: “We’ve played Burnley a couple of weeks ago and seen quite a few games here at Turf Moor.

“We knew in the early stages it will require a lot of running, chasing balls, a lot of fighting for second balls.

“So I decided to start with Edi because this kind of profile suits him.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo and Mauricio Pochettino could swap places in a blockbuster summer transfer.

United legend Ronaldo, who turned 37 on Saturday, is claimed to be disillusioned with life back at Old Trafford.

According to the Mirror, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's agent Jorge Mendes could help facilitate a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

And that may see PSG manager Pochettino moving in the other direction back to England.

Finally, Barcelona ace Ousmane Dembele's reps are rumoured to have entered discussions with United over a free transfer.

This is after rumours suggested Dembele, whose Barca contract expires in June, has reached a ‘verbal agreement’ on a move to PSG this summer.

According to Sport Witness, the forward is still considered to be a part of Blaugrana boss Xavi’s plans this term even though he is holding out on signing a new deal.

And according to Sport, the Red Devils have been in talks with the France international's representative Moussa Sissoko in recent weeks.

Newcastle, Juventus, Chelsea and PSG were also linked with the 24-year-old during the recent January transfer window

Why Ronaldo is benched

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick left Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench because he felt that Edinson Cavani was better suited to the demands that come with facing Burnley.

Rangnick told MUTV before kick-off: "We’ve played Burnley a couple of weeks ago and seen quite a few games here at Turf Moor.

"We knew in the early stages it will require a lot of running, chasing balls, a lot of fighting for second balls.

So I decided to start with Edi because this kind of profile suits him"

That's the Ron decision

Robbie Savage disagrees with Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick's decision to drop Cristiano Ronaldo against Burnley.

Savage told BT Sport: "I’d play Ronaldo every time.

"I know he played 120 minutes but physically he’s fantastic, will work hard, top goalscorer and if you need a goal perhaps he’ll come off the bench but I’d start Ronaldo.

"It’s not a bad replacement to have [Edinson] Cavani in"

Keane praises Wright

Manchester United legend Roy Keane displayed a rare moment of emotion after he watched a powerful Ian Wright interview depicting the Arsenal great's mentoring skills.

Wright was conducting an interview with Boreham Wood ace Adrian Clifton who he has been mentoring over the last 13 years.

They initially met in 2009 when the fallen ex-Gunners academy star featured on the footballer-turned-pundit's 'Football Behind Bars' show as he served a prison sentence in a young offender's institution.

But under the former England international's guidance - Clifton's gone from a football reject into a FA Cup hero with the non-league side who have cruised into the FA Cup fifth round where Everton await - after disposing of AFC Wimbledon and Bournemouth in the previous rounds.

After watching the moving footage an emotional Keane admitted: "Brilliant, very powerful. Great story, well done, Wrighty.

"You gave him a bit of hope. Brilliant stuff. Absolutely brilliant"
