Reader’s Corner: Let’s hope the wise men are looking down on us under the arch
There’s a conversation with a family friend and Charlton fan that still haunts me. It actually doesn’t include the words “playoff” or “Mendonca” or even “Wembley”. In the pre-season before Sunderland’s first season in League One, my Charlton pal Gary said “the problem with Sunderland is that you think you’re going to go straight back up but trust me, you’ve signed all the wrong players.”

5 Telling Stats from Everton’s Merseyside Miracle against Crystal Palace
We witnessed perhaps the greatest comeback in the illustrious history of Everton Football Club last night, as the Toffees scored three second-half goals to escape relegation after being seemingly on the brink after a dreadful first-half performance that saw them head to the dressing room down a pair of poorly-conceded goals. If there ever was a half of football that encapsulated the season then the first forty-five minutes against Crystal Palace was it.

Let’s do the job in ninety minutes and avoid any penalty shootout drama!
Over the past week, penalty shootouts have been very much the order of the day. With both the FA Cup and the Europa League Finals being settled from twelve yards, not to mention the Nottingham Forest/Sheffield United playoff semi-final being decided by spot kicks, the likelihood that we will need to do the same in order to earn promotion is increasing, along with my nerves.

Thank You, Fernandinho, - Manchester City Supporters
Fernandinho is set to make his 383rd and final appearance for Manchester City on Sunday. A fitting end to the best Brazilian to ever grace the Premier League. This season, for Tottenham Hotspur top four really was our everything
It was a very different thing to be a Tottenham Hotspur supporter back in 2014. Spurs had gotten a taste of Champions League football a couple of seasons prior, but due to a variety of circumstances, including Chelsea beating Bayern Munich in the Champions League final, had never gotten back there. It’d had been all Europa League since those glory, glory European nights at the San Siro and White Hart Lane in 2012. That 2013-14 season was supposed to be the year Spurs finally got over the hump, with Gareth Bale still at the peak of his powers and Tottenham playing under a proper Champions League-winning manager.
