Opéra de Paris Announces Cast Change for ‘Khovanshchina’

The Opéra de Paris has announced a cast change for its premiere of “Khovanshchina.”

The company noted that Anush Hovhannisyan will replace Olga Busuioc in the role of Emma for the performance on Jan. 26, 2022.

The performance will mark Hovhannisyan’s Paris Opera debut. The soprano has performed with the Scottish Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Welsh National Opera, Opera North, Philharmonia Orchestra, Opera Holland Park, and Bergen National Opera, among others.

Hovhannisyan joins a cast that includes Dimitry Ivashchenko, Sergei Skorokhodov, John Daszak, Evgeny Nikitin, Dmitry Belosseslkiy, Anita Rachvelishvili, Carole Wilson, and Gerhard Siegel. Hartmut Haenchen conducts the production by Andrei Șerban.

Busuioc is set to return to the production for the second performance on Jan. 30. “Khovanshchina” runs through Feb. 18.
