Persian Cat Goes Viral Thanks to Hilariously Distinctive Meow—'Toad Cat'

A delightful fluffy cat is turning heads on TikTok thanks to her unique meow.

Bobbie the Persian is already something of a social media celebrity with 226,000 followers on Instagram and 1.8 million on TikTok.

A rescue cat currently residing with her owners in Wales in the U.K., Bobbie has been busy recently putting the world to rights and proving she is so much more than just a pretty face.

In a video shared to TikTok earlier this January, fans were treated to a clip showcasing the dulcet tones of the Persian cat's distinctive meow. The footage can be watched here.

The seven-second clip sees Bobbie emit five meows, with the accompanying caption reading: "Such a way with words."

As unique a sound as you are ever likely to hear coming from a cat, the footage proved captivating for the Persian cat's loyal army of fans.

At the time of writing, the video has been viewed 12.1 million times with her supporters flocking to the comments section to offer up their thoughts on Bobbie's vocal stylings.

Anton_hz_hryb thought it was akin to "if Ozzy Osborne was a cat," while Camcamey thought Bobbie sounded like she "smokes a pack a day." ChyChy768 branded her a "lil goblin" for her efforts and auditydraws affectionately christened her "toad cat."

"I need this cat in my life," PinkUnicorn81 wrote. Abbeyyyburchett_ commented: "'m not quite sure if she has figured out the meowing part.. but she's beautiful so it's okay." Sarahsaintclair found the sound of Bobbie's meows strangely soothing, asking: "Can I find this on Spotify?" Greatdivacup felt the cat's meows were so convincing she "should be in politics."

Newsweek has contacted Bobbie's owners at thatcatbobbie for comment.

Speaking to PetMD, Yody Blass, a certified animal behaviorist at Companion Animal Behavior said Persian cats are ideal for pet owners with a "quieter lifestyle." Blass stated: "These cats can be active when they want to be, but they're never bouncing off the walls."

However, that isn't to say they won't keep you busy. "Persian cats require daily grooming," Blass explained. "And not just a once-over. You have to be diligent to remove knots and other debris from their fur because they can't do it on their own."

Meowing cats have been the focus of several notable stories in recent months.

In one instance, a super-smart cat's persistent meows ended up saving the life of its 83-year-old owner.

Prior to that, another feline found itself in the spotlight after pet lovers became convinced its meow sounded exactly like Fred Flintstone's signature catchphrase "Yabba, Dabba, Doo!"
