Anthony Edwards continues to shine, felt like “Black Jesus” after latest win, targets MVP next year

Anthony Edwards

If you haven’t heard by now, Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards is a human quote machine. Literally, just place a mic in front of him and be prepared to record.

After his latest 40-point performance, helping the Wolves take down the Blazers, Ant got in front of the mic once again, with his teammate D’Angelo Russell also hanging around. D-Lo almost serves as his hype man, with every joke Ant has, Russell has a reaction. It’s a great tandem.

First, we start here.

That’s not all, Ant also talked about how he knew his opponent would be no match for him. As D-Lo might say, “he’s got ice in his veins”.

Feeling good, Anthony Edwards has his sights set on MVP

Ant Man has already compiled four 40-point games in his career, putting him in great company among the list of players to drop 40 points before turning 21. It is the second 40-point night this season and the Wolves still have 35 more games to play, giving him a chance to get closer to LeBron James. Edwards won’t turn 21 until Aug. 5.

It’s safe to say Edwards is a budding superstar, both on and off the court. Still just 20 years old, there’s no telling what the future has in store for the first overall pick from 2020. Why not MVP?

  • Anthony Edwards stats (2021-22): 22.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.6 steals, 0.7 blocks per game while shooting 44/37/79

Edwards has steadily improved under the guidance of coach Chris Finch in each of his first two seasons. If Ant can continue adding to his peripheral stats while making strides defensively, Most Valuable Player just might be on the table someday.

First, he needs to get the Minnesota Timberwolves back to the playoffs for the first time since Jimmy Butler wanted out, which seems like a strong bet being that they’re in the seventh seed as of today.
