Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of the members of the royal family will be reuniting this spring for Prince Philip's memorial. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might join them, but the British public doesn't want to see the royal couple.

Queen Elizabeth II Hurting Too Much Due To Prince Harry, Meghan Markle?

Express made a poll among its readers 11,983 readers from Jan. 24 to 25. The majority, 93 percent of the voters, urged Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to just stay in their Montecito mansion in California and not return to the UK for Prince Philip's memorial. Many of them were not pleased with the royal couple's interview with Oprah Winfrey, which happened while the Duke of Edinburgh was still in the hospital.

Prince Harry and Markle's bombshell interview aired on March 7, 2021. On April 9, 2021, Prince Philip passed away, just two months shy from his supposed centenary birthday.

"That pair have a nerve to even consider coming back to the UK after the damage they have caused," Audumla commented on the poll.

"I don't think there are many [who] would want to see those two back in [the] UK. They've caused the queen so much heartache to be forgiven," Pat Massie added.

Meanwhile, many were also worried that their return would take the limelight away from the remembrance of Prince Philip.

"They need to stay away. The memorial should be all about Philip. If they show up, then it will be all about them," another reader wrote.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Might Not Join Queen Elizabeth For Prince Philip's Memorial

The British public might get what they want. Prince Harry is currently in a legal dispute with the British government after he filed for a judicial review questioning Home Office's decision to not grant his request to personally fund police protection for his family. Since his concern is not settled yet, the Sussexes might skip Prince Phillip's funeral, Page Six reported

The duke expressed his interest to return home but felt that it was too dangerous. Prince Harry offered to pay for police protection to keep his family safe, which the Home Office rejected twice.

The Duke of Sussex wants the Met police to look after his family because his personal security team couldn't replicate their service in the UK. Also, only them are allowed to carry firearms.

However, he is not entitled to their service. The duke lost the privilege when he decided to step back from his royal duties.

An unnamed source told Express earlier that the Queen will not give into Prince Harry's security demands because "Who gets protection is not a gift the Queen can decide to give or take away."

A royal expert also said earlier that the issue is difficult for the Queen because Prince Harry is close to her. However, she will never go against the government's decision.
