Katy Fwy shooting stemmed from info exchange after crash, police say
No one died in the shooting, but the circumstances are strange. Eyewitness News has more on a confrontation that started with a harmless insurance exchange after a minor crash.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A reported road rage shooting that blocked inbound lanes of the I-10 Katy Freeway near Voss started from two drivers who were exchanging information for only a minor crash, police said.

The shooting sent one of the drivers to the hospital and the other was questioned by investigators.

According to Hedwig Village police, who are investigating the incident, two drivers pulled over to the emergency lane of I-10 to exchange their info when one of them pulled out a gun.

Police said a struggle then took place over the weapon, with the unarmed motorist getting a hold of the other's gun. Investigators believe three shots were fired.

"One of the parties pulled a firearm on the other. There was a tussle for the firearm, and the person pulling the firearm was shot with his own firearm," said Sgt. Marvin Collins of Hedwig Village police.

The wounded person was listed in good condition at a nearby hospital.

It's not immediately known whether anyone will be charged in the incident. Police said they were also talking to several witnesses.

The crash from the incident, along with the police response, was listed on Houston TranStar's website among its freeway incidents. The incident was verified at 8:50 a.m. and cleared not too long after.
