Every year that America’s Got Talent has been on the air, there’s been more and more child contestants. Each season, it feels like the number of children has almost doubled. These children are not just performing, they’re moving forward in the contest. Could AGT being trying to find the next Grace VanderWaal?

There is no denying the fact that recent seasons have had some pretty young contestants. We’re talking nine or twelve-years-old young. Some of the biggest children acts ever on AGT are Darci Lynn Farmer, Celine Tam, Evie Clair, Angelica Hale, and Angelina Green to name a few.

In recent years, children acts have always been one of the recipients of a golden buzzer. During last season of the series, nine year old Victory Brinker was awarded a sixth golden buzzer for the first time ever. This honor meant that all four judges and the host agreed she had what it took to go straight to the semi finals. Victory’s season differed from other seasons in the fact that she was the youngest to finish on top. In fact, three to four children typically make it into the finale.

5. Victory Brinker

At only nine years old, Victory took to the AGT stage singing “Juliet’s Waltz” from the opera Roméo et Juliette. She continued to stun the audience with her voice throughout the competition. Victory did not get enough votes to make it into the Top 5, but many fans believe she totally deserved it.

4. Jackie Evancho

I had to include one of the first ten year olds to skyrocket to fame after AGT, Jackie Evancho. Jackie walked so Victory could run in this series. She auditioned for America’s Got Talent season five at only ten years old and left the competition in second place. This young opera singer paved the way for child success on the series. Jackie became a huge name in classical music, but is trying to change up her sound in her early twenties.

3. Peter Rosalita

Many fans believe that this ten year old deserved to win it all on the 16th season of America’s Got Talent. He took to the stage singing “All By Myself” by Eric Carmen. Even though Peter looked his age, he did not sing like a ten year old. His voice is beyond his years. Fans were sad to see him eliminated in the semi finals.

2. Kaitlyn Maher

This four year old took to the America’s Got Talent stage and impressed everyone with her cover of “Somewhere Out There” by Linda Ronstadt and James Ingram. The audience mostly loved how adorable she was, but she also was a pretty good singer for only four years old. She was the youngest Top 10 finalist in the history of AGT and still sings on her social media.

1. Quintavious Johnson

At only 12 years old, Quintavious took to the AGT stage singing “Listen” by Beyonce. This singer became such a huge favorite that he finished the series out in fifth place. Fans were upset when he didn’t win the series as a whole, so AGT offered him a consolation prize: a vacation to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. He was the first finalist since season one to win this type of prize. To this day, Quintavious still sings.

Producers like to go with things they KNOW will work. The tactic of children stars on America’s Got Talent is one that’s been successful for many seasons. I have a feeling that we’re going to see many more singing children in the next few seasons. It will stay a trend until the audience decides they don’t want any more kid virtuosos. America loves singing children.
