A 53-year-old man arrested Wednesday is accused of stabbing an acquaintance to death inside a home being remodeled in Old Hickory.

Metro Police said Daniel Baynes, 58, was found dead by a construction contractor Tuesday on Lake Shore Drive. The worker told police Baynes was assisting with the remodel and was allowed to stay on the property. Baynes had stab wounds to his face and abdomen.

His pickup truck was missing from the work site and was later found in a parking lot on Dickerson Pike. Metro Police located the suspect, Anthony Eugene Summers, 53, inside a cell phone store. He ran from detectives but was quickly apprehended.

After being taken into custody, Summers admitted he was involved in a fight with Baynes.

Summers sustained an injury to his hand during the fight. He's being treated at an area hospital is expected to be booked for criminal homicide upon his release.
