The Detroit Red Wings find themselves on another losing skid, having dropped back-to-back games once again. and continue to fall out of the playoff picture. They look to try and turn things around against their longtime rivals in the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night.

Despite a relatively even start against the Nashville Predators on Saturday night, the Red Wings were playing catchup by the second period. Adam Erne scored his fourth of the season late in the second to make it 2-1 heading into the third period, but despite Detroit outshooting Nashville 13-7 in the final 20 minutes, they were unable to beat the Preds’ Juuse Saros, ending up with a 4-1 defeat.

After winning back-to-back games, the Wings have now dropped their last two, and are looking to avoid losing three-in-a-row for the second time this month.

They will meet their most historic rival on Wednesday night for the first time this season. The Blackhawks have had a tulmultuous season to say the least. However, since for Grand Rapids Griffin Derek King has taken over as head coach, they have shown signs of improvement, but are still outside of a playoff spot. Heading into Wednesday, they are nine points back of the Dallas Stars, who hold the second Wild Card spot.
