The Centers for Disease Control has added 15 places – including five popular tourist spots – to the “very high” risk category due to increases in COVID cases.

Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, St. Barts and St. Martin were among the countries elevated to Level 4, the highest risk level. The changes follow a decision last week to add 22 locations, including the Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Saint Lucia, Sint Maarten and Turks and Caicos Islands, to the “very high” risk category.

Places are added to Level 4 when more than 500 COVID cases per 100,000 residents are reported in the past 28 days.

The CDC advises people to “avoid travel to these destinations.”

“If you must travel to these destinations, make sure you are fully vaccinated,” the CDC says on its website.

In all, there are more than 100 countries on the Level 4 list.

The latest additions were:

  • Colombia
  • Costa Rica
  • Dominican Republic
  • Fiji
  • Guadeloupe
  • Jamaica
  • Kuwait
  • Mongolia
  • Niger
  • Peru
  • Romania
  • Saint Barthelemy
  • Saint Martin
  • Tunisia
  • United Arab Emirates
