Letter to the editor: Where is the citizenship in America?

The Repository

Is America one nation under God, indivisible or is it a nation of 50 states divisible?

We the People did ordain and establish the Constitution of our America "... in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence [sic], promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessing of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity ..." (Preamble to U.S. Constitution)

How can a nation with 50 states divisible sustain continued formation of a more perfect union, with justice, tranquility, providing for the common defense, promotion of the general welfare and the securing of any blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity? We citizens of the states are divided by hate, ignorance, greed, chemical addictions, racism, sexism, and political and religious extremism.

Where is the citizenship in America? Where is the "All for One and One for All?" Where is the religious faith that we currently only give lip service to? What are we doing to ourselves? How can we love our neighbors when we can't even love ourselves?

We are one nation under God, indivisible, and it is we citizens that are the nation, not the states. If the citizens do not care, then why should anyone else? Again I ask, where is the citizenship?
