Conor McGregor's UFC Return Confirmed By Dana White, It's Way Sooner Than Expected

Conor McGregor's UFC Return Confirmed By Dana White, It's Way Sooner Than Expected

White broke the news to TMZ.

Conor McGregor will make a dramatic return to the UFC this summer - 12 months after horrifically breaking his leg.

The Irishman is currently recovering from a snapped tibia he suffered against longtime rival Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 back in July.

McGregor is keen to get back in the Octagon and UFC president Dana White has finally addressed when that'll be.

He told TMZ: ""He's doing all the right things with his leg. I'm hoping he can come back this summer."

It's unknown who his opponent will be, but a fourth fight with Poirier isn't out of the question.

'The Notorious' defeated Poirier back in 2014, but Poirier knocked him out in the rematch in January of last year.

His untimely leg snap in the summer saw Poirier win the fight and earn a lightweight championship match against Charles Oliveira.

'The Diamond' didn't end up winning his title fight, however and tapped out in the main event of UFC 269.

McGregor is desperate to fight Oliveira and claim UFC gold for the first time since 2016.

He even took to threatening Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar.

The world's most expensive footballer posed with Oliveira and his title and McGregor had his say.

McGregor posted the photo on his story and captioned it: "Smoke the two of these."

Oliveira isn't against fighting the former Champ-champ and even mooted a date in May.

He told Sherdog: "May would be a wonderful date. Conor challenged me asking a date, and tweeted Ireland vs Brazil 2.

"Not only him, but also myself and all the world wants to see that fight. So let's make it happen.

"I'm waiting for him in May. It may be in welterweight, lightweight or middleweight, with my title on the line or not. Just choose and I'll be ready."

A trilogy bout with Nate Diaz is also rumoured, while McGregor could also fight Max Holloway.

He posted a bizarre video to social media late last year, which showed him pacing back and forth while watching Holloway's win over Yair Rodriguez.
