LeBron James led the Lakers to a big win against the Brooklyn Nets in Barclays Center on Tuesday, 106-96. The Nets were without the injured Kevin Durant and the anti-vaxxer Kyrie Irving, but it was still an important win for an LA side that has been struggling mightily of late.

LeBron had another strong showing for the Lakers, logging a game-high 33 points as he carried on with his recent scoring surge for the Lakers. After the game, the four-time MVP was asked if his recent onslaught is his way of responding to his team's current struggles. James was brutally honest in his response (h/t Dave McMenamin of ESPN):

LeBron has kept his head down and gotten things done for the Lakers for pretty much the entire season. Right now, James is averaging 29.0 points per game, which is his highest scoring output since the 2009-10 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. That was 12 years ago and he was just 25 at that time.

This simply speaks volumes of how special LeBron truly is, for him to be doing what he's been doing at such an advanced stage in his career. However, whether or not this will take its toll on him as the season winds down is an altogether different question.
