BLACKPINK Jennie Surprises Fans with Cameo Appearance in Grimes' 'Shinigami Eyes' Trailer Video
In the evening of January 25 local time, Canadian singer-songwriter Grimes recently unveiled the official video trailer for her upcoming new track "Shinigami Eyes" through her official Youtube channel.
The video trailer runs for a total of 23 seconds and shows a snippet of the official music video for "Shinigami Eyes," which is set to be released this coming January 26 at 12pm ET (9am PT or January 27 at 2am KST).
The short video shows a futuristic and edgy Grimes in various settings, such as the singer floating in space, and even holding a sword in some as she looks into the camera to show her red shinigami eyes - which is in reference "Death Note," a popular Japanese manga and anime series.
While fans are already looking forward to the new release by Grimes, the anticipation was made greater when they spotted K-Pop star and BLACKPINK member Jennie making a cameo appearance in the trailer video!
At around the 13-second mark, Jennie makes a brief appearance, where she was seen posing for pictures alongside the "Shinigami Eyes" singer.

Jennie was also donned in a futuristic and edgy outfit to complement the theme, wearing the Crystal Petal Bra by David Koma, which retails for a whopping $2,037 USD and is now sold out. She also matches her statement piece with a matching red jacket and pants to complete her look.
Not long after the trailer video went live, Grimes took to her Instagram to praise Jennie, saying that she has "never seen such a pure talent on set" and that everyone was amazed with her good performance.

Fans had first speculated that a collaboration between the two artists were in the making after they showed off their friendship by posing for pictures together at Elon Musk's SpaceX and posting in on their respective Instagram accounts back in July. Since then, Jennie and Grimes have been known by fans to be good friends.
While it is unclear as to what Jennie's role in the upcoming music video will be, fans are still elated that the "Pretty Savage" hitmaker would be making an appearance, as this marks Jennie's first music video appearance in one year and two months since the release of their song "Lovesick Girls" in October 2020.
