WARRENSBURG, MO -- From opportunities to help students dress for success and learn proper business dinner etiquette to landing job interviews and internships, the University of Central Missouri Career Services Center has scheduled a number of special events during the 2022 spring semester.

This line-up of career-oriented activities begins with the JCPenney Suit-Up Event Feb. 6-12. Through this virtual opportunity, Career Services is partnering with JCPenney for a program that will provide discounts on the purchase of clothing that will help students dress to impress during a job interview or other engagements with a potential employer. Students who want to participate should Text MULES1871 to 67292 to get their coupon for the event or click JCPenney Suit-Up Event to obtain more information.

To prepare for future professional networking situations, students can attend a virtual etiquette training event titled “Dine Like A Pro, Eat Like Your Future Career Depends On It.” The virtual event is planned for 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Participants will receive etiquette tips and tricks from a professional trainer in this field. To participate, students can click here or login to their Handshake account.

Students who are looking for employment or an opportunity for an on-the-job learning experience are encouraged to participate in the Spring 2022 Virtual Job and Internship Fair. This event is open to all majors and will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16. This is an ideal time for students to meet professionals in their field, learn more about graduate and professional schools, and explore a multitude of career opportunities.

To register for the Virtual Job and Internship Fair, students will need to sign up for different sessions with employers. These sessions, however, will not be available until the employer has established them. Students should access their Handshake account and check in often to register for employer sessions as they become available. To do so, they must follow these procedures:

• Click the “Available Sessions” tab in the upper-left of the page, below the fair title and date/time.
• Update their privacy setting to "Community." This will allow them to participate in all fair sessions.
• When a student locates an employer that they would like to connect with, look for this employer’s session information to appear below the employer name and description.
• Students should click on the name of the session in which they would like to participate.
• Click on RSVPed to see more information about the session or cancel their reservation.

The UCM Spring 2022 Nursing Hiring Day will be conducted in person from 1 to 3 p.m, Monday, Feb. 28 at UCM-Lee’s Summit, located at the Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC). This event provides an opportunity to meet professionals in the nursing and healthcare fields, representatives of graduate and professional schools, and explore many career opportunities. All nursing majors are encouraged to attend regardless of class status. Underclassmen will benefit from this event as it provides an outlook on the job market as well as networking possibilities. Juniors and seniors can inquire about full-time or clinical opportunities.

Students seeking careers in education are encouraged to attend the Spring 2022 Education Job Fair, a virtual event planned for 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16. They have the opportunity to meet with education professionals, graduate and professional school representatives, and explore career opportunities in the field of education.
