OnePlus 10 Ultra flagship to launch in 2H 2022 with Oppo camera technology tie-in

The line between Oppo and OnePlus will continue blur, if rumours about a OnePlus 10 Ultra are correct. As several leaks have already shown, the Find X5 Pro will include Hasselblad camera technology, a previously OnePlus-exclusive feature. According to Yogesh Brar, the OnePlus 10 Ultra will launch with MariSilicon, an Oppo chip that the company revealed as the MariSilicon X.

Brar adds that the OnePlus 10 Ultra could launch during 2H 2022. Incidentally, OnePlus has not launched a flagship smartphone during the second half of the year since the OnePlus 8T. Strictly speaking, the OnePlus 8T was an upgraded OnePlus 8 though, not an upgraded OnePlus 8 Pro. Also, OnePlus decided against selling the OnePlus 7T Pro, another mid-cycle refresh, in North America. In fact, the OnePlus 6T would be the last OnePlus flagship released in the second half of the year that improved upon all existing OnePlus smartphones.

Typically, OnePlus releases mid-cycle refreshes in October. Hence, if the OnePlus 10 Ultra arrives in 2H 2022, we imagine it will debut in October. Supposedly, the OnePlus 10 Ultra is at the Engineering Validation and Testing (EVT) phase of development, meaning that it is nowhere near entering mass production. Next for the OnePlus 10 Ultra would be Design Validation Testing (DVT), followed by Production Validation Testing (PVT).
