MAMAMOO Moonbyul's '6equence' First-Week Sales Become the Soloist's Highest to Date

MAMAMOO Moonbyul's third mini-album "6equence" has set a new record for the soloist as it attains her new highest first-week sales.

On Jan. 25, the first-week sales count for MAMAMOO Moonbyul's "6equence" has come to an end. The mini-album arrived on Jan. 19 along with the "LUNATIC" music video.

According to the Hanteo Chart, "6equence" sold a total of 70,645 copies, more than 34,000 copies of which were sold on the first day alone. The first-day sales count was Moonbyul's highest daily sales in the past week.

Compared to the record set by her previous album "Dark Side of the Moon," MAMAMOO Moonbyul's "6equence" first-week sales count is higher.

"Dark Side of the Moon," which was released in February 2020, only sold 66,047 total copies. This means Moonbyul's third mini-album has broken her personal record for first-week sales.

Nevertheless, "Dark Side of the Moon" still holds the soloist's highest first-day sales. It sold a total of 59,342 copies on Feb. 14 - it is the fifth-highest first-day sales for a female K-pop soloist in history as of March 2021.

But, at the time of its release, "Dark Side of the Moon" had the third-highest first-day sales, following IU's "Love Poem" and Girls' Generation Taeyeon's "Purpose."

Meanwhile, MAMAMOO Moonbyul's "6equence" is made up of a total of seven songs including the title track "LUNATIC" and its English version. Each song in the album expresses a variety of emotions and contains connected stories.

On Jan. 20 as of 2 p.m. KST, MAMAMOO Moonbyul's third mini-album "6equence" hit No. 1 on iTunes Album charts in at least 20 different countries, including Denmark, Cambodia, Brazil, South Africa, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.

In addition to that, "6equence" becomes the first female K-pop solo album released in 2022 to debut at No. 1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart. It even stayed atop the rankings for two days in a row, the first to achieve this feat as well.

The mini-album also landed on the European iTunes Album Chart, taking the No. 3 spot.

MAMAMOO Moonbyul's "LUNATIC" also managed to rank first on iTunes Song charts in at least 11 different regions, including Malaysia, Poland, Brazil, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines. The track also made the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart, entering at No. 16.

With her pre-release single "From Head to Toe," Moonbyul rose to the top of iTunes Songs charts in ten regions, signaling her successful solo comeback with "6equence."

In South Korea, MAMAMOO Moonbyul's "LUNATIC" debuted on several daily music charts on Jan. 19. It entered at No. 31 on Bugs, No. 145 on MelOn, No. 188 on Genie and No. 357 on VIBE.

"LUNATIC" is also receiving a hot response from fans on TikTok. After Moonbyul started the "LUNATIC" dance challenge, the hashtag "#LUNATICChallenge" has surpassed six million views as of writing. The most-viewed video is the one with Jeon Somi, which has 1.5 million views so far.
